Edinburgh Neighbourhood Partnership
The Goal
The Neighbourhood Partnerships Scheme was set up by the City of Edinburgh Council as a way of giving residents of Edinburgh a say in the running of and issues affecting their local areas. Made up of councillors, public agencies, community representatives, Police, NHS Lothian and the voluntary sector, the focus of partnerships are issues affecting the quality of life in local areas.
The council needed a website that would serve as a single point of contact and information for all 12 Neighbourhood Partnerships and 36 Communiyt Councils and came to Gecko to make it happen.
The solution
We made it as easy as possible for Edinburgh Residents to find their partnership and to quickly see any news, events or other information that is relevent to them and their local area. Following strict usability and accessibility requirements, we made sure that noone is excluded from using the website and that the information presented is as easy to find as possible.
The result
The resulting website has been an enourmous success, providing a focal point for local issues that aren't given as much attention in the mainstream media but that affect the everyday lives of local residents. As the site grows, we have formed a great partnership with Edinburgh Council and continue to add new features as they are requested by the site administrators and users.
